Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust (MESPT) is a development organization founded in 2002 by the Government of Kenya and the European Union to promote economic growth, create jobs, and reduce poverty by supporting micro and small enterprises, especially in agriculture and agri-enterprises. Over the years, MESPT has built a strong reputation in strengthening agricultural value chains, improving access to finance, and supporting enterprise development for smallholder farmers, cooperatives, agri-MSMEs, and financial intermediaries. Its work includes capacity building, market linkages, agricultural productivity, food safety, and the promotion of green technologies and sustainable business practices, all aimed at creating resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable livelihoods. Today, MESPT plays a catalytic role in Kenya’s agricultural and financial systems by connecting farmers, businesses, financial institutions, government, and other market players to promote sustainable growth. Its strength lies in combining financial services with non-financial support, helping underserved groups such as women, youth, and rural enterprises access markets, funding, skills, and climate-responsive solutions.
