The Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) enhances Michigan's economic well-being by providing no-cost counseling, training, research, and advocacy for new ventures, existing small businesses, and innovative technology companies. With offices statewide, the MI-SBDC positively impacts the economy by strengthening existing companies, creating new jobs, retaining existing jobs, and assisting companies in defining their path to success. The Michigan SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. The statewide host of the Michigan SBDC is Grand Valley State University's Seidman College of Business. The Northwest Region MI-SBDC office serves Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, and Wexford counties.
