Working on the MICAT over Easter, I couldn't help but be blown away by the happy customers going over and also coming home after an Easter that blessed us with good weather. Easter doesn't always give us the beautiful weather that we crave, but our customers seem to make their own fun even whatever the weather. The main thing that I was truly inspired by was the number of customers that remembered me from their annual Easter trips. One customer has been travelling with us for 32 years, and has never missed an Easter trip over that entire time. This brought me back to the nostalgia of my younger days and our previous ferries that have all plied across Moreton Bay to our great Island for the past 40 plus years. Pictured is our first Moreton Island vehicular ferry - the Moreton Venture I - launched in 1980, 32 years ago when I was 15 years old. She carried 23 vehicles and yes, we served smiley pies! This is a tribute to our long standing customers, our smiley pies, but also to progress as the MICAT is a tad more comfortable than our first Moreton Venture and the trip is half the time.
