In Miami-Dade County, more than 1300 children are in the Dependency Court System due to allegations of abuse, abandonment and neglect. The Guardian ad Litem Program is essential to fulfilling society's most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child's right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, make sure their wishes are heard and to find permanency with a loving family. The Guardian ad Litem Program recruits, trains and empowers potential volunteers within the community to represent the best interests of children in foster care. Our volunteers visit the children a minimum of once every 30 days, write reports and work with their supervisor and attorney team as a party to the child's court proceedings.
