The Meetings Industry Association (mia) is the body for setting and accrediting standards in the meetings industry, they are the owners and keepers of ‘AIM’ an industry wide recognised accreditation scheme which was developed on their behalf and in cooperation with The Best Practice Forum. The specific objectives of the Association in developing an accreditation scheme was to: - improve the quality of the meetings industry throughout the UK. - create a scheme which is totally inclusive of all venues types. - give meetings organisers confidence when selecting their venues. Tourist Boards, Regional Development Agencies, VisitBritain and others are seeking to use AIM accreditation as a means of improving the quality of meeting and conference facilities; raising standards, and growing the size of the business tourism market.
