MG Rover Information

MG Rover, British motor manufacturer and sponsor of the arts in Britain, is to support the English National Ballet. The relationship, a natural extension to the support of arts and sports that MG Rover currently undertakes, seeks to develop creative ways in which both organisations can make continuing and meaningful contributions to cultural life in the U.K. For the Royal Gala performance of The Nutcracker, on December 4, MG Rover will provide two stretch Rover 75 Vanden Plas limousines for Miss Angela Rippon, Chairman, and Dame Alicia Markova DBE, President and Founder of English National Ballet. The opening night is at St James's Palace in the presence of HRH Duke of York, patron of English National Ballet. Alex Watkins, UK Marketing Manager, MG Rover said: "MG Rover has long had an association with the arts, including working with Classical Brits, Birmingham Film Festival and British Style Awards. There is a perfect synergy between the qualities of the Rover brand and those of English National Ballet. Its audience perfectly reflects the profile of Rover buyers and we look to support art and culture that is meaningful to our customers." Barbara Vance, Development Director at English National Ballet said: "It is important for us all that an organisation like MG Rover provides support to English National Ballet. We are confident that this partnership will yield benefits for MG Rover, English National Ballet, and our shared audience." The sponsorship relationship will run through the Winter 2003 performance season. Pictures are of Dame Alicia Markova DBE and Angela Rippon.
