MEDA is an international economic development organization whose mission is to create business solutions to poverty. Founded in 1953 by a group of Mennonite business professionals, we partner with entrepreneurs to start or grow small and medium-sized businesses in developing regions around the world.
Our expertise includes a full range of economic development tools: financial services, improved technology, business training, better access to markets and equity investment.
We believe that all people deserve the opportunity to earn a livelihood and that unleashing entrepreneurship is a powerful way to alleviate poverty.

The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) is a bureau within the U.S. Department of Commerce, with the mission to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy.
EDA encourages programs that promote job growth and business expansion in today's technologies and in discovering tomorrow's. We support key initiatives among regional areas across the United States, thereby developing economic stability through intergovernmental and public/private sector collaboration.
EDA has 6 regional offices throughout the country, located in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Denver, Philadelphia and Seattle. To find out what region you’re community is in, go to http://www.eda.gov/Contacts/Contacts.xml.
EDC mobilizes business, government and civic leaders around an inclusive economic development strategy in order to connect data to decision making, maximize regional prosperity, enhance global competitiveness, and position San Diego effectively for investment and talent.
As an independently funded nonprofit fueled by more than 160 companies and organizations, EDC works to attract, retain and expand companies and the talent pool across the region’s three traded economies: military, tourism and innovation.
EDC has a staff of 20+, a board of directors and multiple committees that work to carry out the organization’s mission. EDC also manages World Trade Center San Diego, which drives EDC's and San Diego's international economic development agenda.
