Metric Technologies Information

Metric Technologies is an interdisciplinary medical innovation company that offers innovators the ability to rapidly prototype, validate, and launch low-cost medical devices targeted at identified real-world problems. By doing so we believe we’ll be able to shorten product development time, increase end-user uptake, and show reductions in morbidity and mortality from targeted diseases. Ultimately, we’ll have more patients enjoying a higher quality of life for more years. We are currently undertaking rapid research & development of a multi-tier low-cost ventilator production in partnership with Rice University Bioengineering. We aim to design and prototype a high-acuity, low-operability (HALO) ventilator that can quickly offset the global deficit of ventilators in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Long-term, we aim for the development of our ventilator solution to removes barriers to access for global surgery and anesthesia. As a for-profit social enterprise, we aim to innovate in the low-cost space by combining our development, lean manufacturing, and systems experience necessary to bring successful products to our network of frontline health professionals. Metric has 2 primary offerings. The first is a suite of low-cost medical devices that are designed, prototyped, and built in-house. The second is consulting services that allow creators –big and small– to bring their conceptual, low-cost medical devices to market.
