Since 1980, Maternity Care Coalition has assisted more than 160,000 families throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware, focusing particularly on neighborhoods with high rates of poverty, infant mortality, health disparities, and changing immigration patterns. We know a family’s needs change as they go through the pregnancy and their child’s first years, and we offer a range of services and programs for every step along the way. Our Mission The mission of Maternity Care Coalition is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families, and enhance school readiness for children 0-3. The Midwife Center is southwestern Pennsylvania’s only licensed and accredited freestanding birth center. We offer primary gynecological care, prenatal care, childbirth, behavioral health and wellness, and other services in a warm and supportive birth center. Our goal is to provide safe and satisfying care that is personalized to meet the needs of you and your family. Our staff is guided by the philosophy that a person should be in control of their own health care, including their birth experience.

The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) is the nation's foremost authority and resource on birth centers. We are a multidisciplinary membership organization comprised of birth centers, individuals and organizations that promote and support birth centers as a means to uphold the rights of healthy women and their families, in all communities, to birth their children in an environment which is safe, sensitive and cost effective with minimal intervention. AABC has built a solid foundation for growth in birth centers by: * Promoting state regulations * Advocating for insurance reimbursement * Developing a quality improvement program * Establishing national standards * Establishing recognized accreditation through the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers * Providing an annual forum for discussion of issues * Educating parents, professionals, and policy-makers to the birth center concept * Conducting major research * Developing industry indicators
