MedMedia Healthcare Network is a new out-of-home digital media company, specifically for physician practices. This media is provided to patients in the physician's office on flat screen monitors placed in the registration area. The company's initial focus includes orthopaedic and sports medicine practices in southern California, expanding the network nationally by year end. Agreements are already in place with many of the top orthopaedic practices across the country. Internal medicine and oncology specialties will be the next focus. The company's executive leadership includes both healthcare and broadcast media backgrounds. The launch was funded by private-placement investors. The current news content partner is CBS. A one-hour loop consisting of a mix of news, information and healthcare related feature segments from CBS2/KCAL9 and relevant patient-education content from healthcare vendor partners is downloaded three times a day via Internet to keep the information current. Additional ad space is sold to local and national accounts.
