Medical Standard 1 Information

Medical Standard 1 (MS1) is a not-for-profit organisation established to assist the healthcare sector with the adoption of the GS1 coding structures and the application of these codes to asset management and supply chain management. Comprehensive tracing of loan set equipment is a directive of the Medical Devices Agency (MDA) and consequently every healthcare organisation using loaned equipment must have access to current and historic information. The Loan Trace suite of software products addresses these issues by utilising the Medical Standard 1(MS1) data repository in combination with the Departments of Health's (DOH) chosen coding standard GS1. This combination enables healthcare organisations to track loaned medical devices and equipment between sites no matter where they are based.
