Mecasoft is a belgian company specialising in subcontracting in electron discharge machining. The name "Mecasoft" is a contraction of the terms "mechanical engineering" and "software". So the word refers to computer-aided mechanical engineering. From the outset, Mecasoft operated in the wire EDM field. The two directors had considerable experience in the field: Francis Henry de Frahan is a nuclear engineer, while Raymond Brandt is an IT specialist. Today, the company has 17 machines, which enable it to apply all the different EDM techniques: wire, ram, drilling and micromilling. All these machines run 18 hours per day, including at weekends. In 2003, Mecasoft developed a new service to offer its micromechanics skills to customers. With these machines, the company is so far the only one in Belgium to offer EDM micromilling.
