Mbeya Cement Company Limited’s (MCCL) was incorporated over 40 years ago by the Government of Tanzania. The company was privatized to CDC in 1999 and later acquired by Lafarge in 2001. The current shareholders are PAn African Cement Limited (Amsons Group) with 65%, NSSF with 10% while the Government of Tanzania retained and continues to hold 25%. The Company operates a fully integrated cement plant that manufactures Clinker, Cement and other building materials and solutions with the Tembo brand (Tembo Cement). The Company’s head office and fully integrated plant are located in the Mbeya Region at Songwe Industrial Area in Southwest Tanzania, Operating a cement production capacity of approx. 1.1 million tonnes per year after installation of a new state-of-the-art Vertical Cement Mill back in 2015. With a big range of product mix, the company can serve both local markets and also exporting to neighboring countries such as Zambia, Burundi, Malawi & DR-Congo.
