Brighter Green is a public policy action tank that works to raise awareness of and encourage policy action on issues that span the environment, animals, and sustainability. Based in New York, Brighter Green works in the U.S. and internationally with a focus on the countries of the global South and a strong commitment to ensuring and expanding equity and rights.
On its own and in partnership with other organizations and individuals, Brighter Green generates and incubates research and project initiatives that are both visionary and practical. It produces publications, websites, documentary films, and programs to illuminate public debate among policy-makers, activists, communities, influential leaders, and the media, with the goal of social transformation at local and international levels.
Some of Brighter Green's initiatives include:
- Climate Change and the Globalization of Factory Farming - China, India, Ethiopia, and Brazil country case studies
- The Emergence of Industrialized Dairy Systems in Asia
- "What's For Dinner?" short documentary film - filmed in Chinese with English subtitles, the film explores whether China can eat as much meat as the United States without destroying the planet (and ourselves).
- East African Girls' Leadership Initiative: an education and leadership pilot program with partner Tribal Link that helps send Maasai girls in Kenya and Tanzania to high school and college so they can become leaders of their community and activists for indigenous peoples and the environment.
The Community College League of California (League) represents and supports California's 73 community college districts. We support locally elected trustees and community college CEOs in serving their students and communities by advocating on their behalf at the state and federal levels, providing continued professional development, and delivering services that employ economies of scale to minimize district costs.
