Cranleigh School and Cranleigh Prep School are leading co-educational weekly boarding and day schools set in a stunning rural location in more than 280 acres on the edge of the Surrey Hills. Our two beautiful campuses are exceptionally well equipped, with outstanding classroom, studio, performance and sports facilities.
Pupils join our senior school from a wide variety of other prep schools across London and the Home Counties, creating a lively, House-based community of young people who are drawn together by their inherent love of life and getting involved in everything Cranleigh has to offer.
Ours is a vibrant school that is large enough for diverse opportunities and yet small enough for every individual pupil to be known, supported and encouraged, whatever activities they undertake. The range of choices available across all year groups is designed to broaden horizons and offer both challenges and opportunities to flourish. A high staff to pupil ratio, dedicated House staff and a nurturing tutor system all ensure that pupils’ personal wellbeing is paramount; and discipline is maintained through mutual respect.
Cranleigh demonstrates powerfully that academic success does not have to be achieved at the expense of excellence in co-curricular activity. Our examination achievements and university entrance are the best ever. We also continue to achieve exceptional results in a broad range of national sporting competitions.
Above all Cranleigh School puts the child first in our decision making, with a focus on the holistic development of young people, supporting a strong education ethic and a day that is built around the motto, which is Ex Cultu Robur (from our culture comes strength).
Please come and see our Schools for yourself. You will be most welcome and we look forward to meeting you.
The school has a full-time dedicated careers professional, Mrs Sammy Davies, who has 15 years experience in commerce and recruitment. Mrs Davies utilises her British Psychological Society qualifications and Morrisby Occupation Psychology accreditation to ensure the school provides each cohort with the most relevant guidance in preparation for an ever-changing workplace.
As the oldest school in the Portsmouth, we honour the legacy of Dr William Smith, our Founder, while offering our pupils a forward-looking preparation for the modern world.
We wish the members of our community to be both happy and successful, and our purpose as a school is to offer an outstanding education that prepares each individual to lead a fulfilled and purposeful life.
In the spirit of our founder we encourage our pupils to think not only about where they will be at 18 but where they aspire to be at 25. Portsmouth is, after all, a city concerned with destinations.
We wish the members of the PGS community to:
- Be happy and thrive
- Enjoy learning and pursue success to the best of their ability
- Be prepared for the changing world beyond school
- Make an active contribution and live purposeful lives
- Develop a sense of identity and to be their own person
