Mayan Mobile Marketing was founded in 2011, by brothers Gabriel and Lenin Aguirre. The two brothers owned a very successful check cashing business, named Tikal Enterprises in Plainfield, NJ. Wanting to grow their business, they searched for new methods to promote their business. In January 2011, they found it. The addition of "mobile text marketing" and other digital marketing tools helped bring this check cashing business into double digit percent increases over the previous year. This was very impressive considering the state of the economy. Seeing the effect of these tools, they felt they could do something on a bigger scale. That is when Mayan Mobile Marketing was born.
