Maxi Security was established in 1991 by Danie and Michelle de Villiers, and has grown from the initial 11 employees to currently having 4000 employees and learners. In May 2004, our Black Empowerment company was formed with Phillip Makhubela and Thandeka Mandindi holding 55% shareholding in the new company, named Maxi Phumelela Security (Pty) Ltd. Sadly, Phillip Makhubela passed away in December 2010, and his shareholding has been purchased by Ackim Dube, with effect from 1 February 2011. The group is proud to have been awarded the B-BBEE (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment) verification status of a Level Three Contributor, at a B-BBEE Procurement Recognition Level of 110% (Certificate Number MAS 00285-GREV1). The Maxi Security Group is registered with SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Authority) and is a member of SSEO (South African Security Employers Organisation). Notwithstanding our SASSETA (Safety & Security Skills Education Training Authority) accreditation and learners awarded to Maxi Security, our sustainable social projects, funded by ourselves, have provided a platform for the group to uplift the disadvantaged in rural areas. We currently have projects running in the rural communities of Shosonguve, Ekangala, one of which is at the Strauss Secondary School in Ekangala.
