Steeped in History Don’t leave the island without discovering Maui Tropical Plantation; a popular oasis of fun, farming and superb dining. Nestled against the majestic Waikapu Valley, this area was once a bustling location for sugarcane production. In the 1980’s C. Brewer Company founded Maui Tropical Plantation to highlight the diversity of Hawaiian agriculture, showcasing staple crops such as Pineapple, Coffee, Mango, Macadamia Nut, Avocado, and Banana. Organic Farms and Sunflower Fields Since 2004, the current owners have pursued the goal of transforming this land into a diversified agriculture model combining organic, market-driven, and native Hawaiian crops. The Plantation proudly partners with Kumu Farms and Hoaloha Farms. Their sunflower growing partnership with Pacific BioDiesel was an unexpected hit, as the large fields of blooming sunflowers, later harvested for producing biofuel, are a major visual attraction for visitors. Culinary Gem: The Mill House Adorned with reclaimed pieces from the now closed Maui sugar mills, including a sugarcane locomotive, the acclaimed Mill House Restaurant and Bar welcomes you daily for lunch and dinner. “Supporting local farms and sources is a priority. We are in constant communication with farmers. We use fresh ingredients that have peak of season flavor.” Executive Chef Jeff Scheer proudly explains. A memorable Maui dining experience awaits you. Their well deserved reputation has expanded to private chef and catering services, The Mill House Roasting Company, an interactive multi-course dining menu on weekends called Maui Chef’s Table, and is the perfect tropical spot for weddings and corporate events. A Sustainable Future “Beyond the immediate experience a guest has here, we strive to be part of a global conversation, discussing the relationship between a farm and a Chef. We have a strong desire to promote diversified agriculture and be an active part of a sustainable future for Maui.” General Manager Francesco Greco enthusiastically expounds.
