Our Roots: Based in the beautiful town of Westport, Co Mayo, Ireland which has strong links to the textile and knitting industries spanning several generations, we are very fortunate to be surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery imaginable – rivers, lakes, The Reek (Croagh Patrick Mountain) and of course the wild Atlantic Ocean, an infinite source of inspiration for our design team and one that is often featured in our stitch detail, not to mention our branding and labelling. Whether inspired by our surroundings or equally our knitting heritage, every stitch is steeped in symbolism, from the fisherman’s cable (representing safety and good luck) to the honeycomb (a just reward for hard work). Working almost exclusively with natural materials, Aran knitwear remains as much in fashion today as it did yesteryear. It is constantly evolving and innovations in styling and yarns ensure it belongs in today’s wardrobe even more so than at any time in past. Aran knitwear is synonymous with our country. With this traditionally woven, fabulous quality fabric we tailor stylish men's and women's suits, kilts, skirts and accessories. Mini versions of all your favourite traditional Scottish clothing are available for children, along with some more modern creations. For the home we have tartan rugs, throws and cushions and a fabric guide to help you choose the perfect fabric for your curtains or anything else.
