matX Information

MatX is an internal marketplace that helps large organisations reuse surplus assets between teams instead of buying new. Think of it as your organisation's own Facebook Marketplace. In most organisations, surplus is handled through email chains and spreadsheets. It doesn't scale, it creates manual work for staff, and assets end up forgotten in storerooms, taken home or sent to landfill, while another team buys the same thing new. MatX gives staff visibility of surplus across the organisation and automates how it is offered, while the organisation keeps control of its policies: • Offering sequences: decide who sees an item, for how long and at what price. For example, internal teams first, then partner organisations, then local charities, with public sale as the last resort. • Rule-based approvals, custom listing fields and full audit trails. • A branded workspace for each organisation, with its own members, categories and rules. • Reporting on money saved, waste avoided and CO2 emissions, estimated item by item. The result is lower procurement costs, less waste, lower emissions and time saved for staff. Track record MatX was founded in 2019 out of Victoria's Level Crossing Removal Project. On WA's METRONET program it helped recover over $287,000 for the WA Department of Transport. The platform has since been rebuilt to work in any industry and is now being piloted in WA's health sector. Built for government and enterprise Data hosted in Australia, single sign-on, two-factor authentication and full audit trails, with ISO 27001 certification underway.
