Matt’s Maker Space is a place where kids can explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) through experiential and hands-on learning. They provide opportunities for kids to create and collaborate in a safe and judgment-free environment. There is a Matt’s Maker Space in each of the seven (7) Mt. Lebanon elementary schools and soon to be one at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and St. Paul's Nursery School. Matt’s Maker Spaces began with a project in the Mt. Lebanon School District in the spring of 2016. This soon-to-be 501-C-3 organization has grown over the last two years into an independent organization that encourages young learners and hopes to inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, artists and mathematicians (STEAM). Matt loved technology, creating and tinkering and Matt's Maker Spaces will not only keep his memory alive but will help 21st century learners in schools, libraries and hospitals everywhere.
