Matchday Intelligence (MdI) is a research consultancy dedicated to serving sports organizations on the business side of their operations. Our mission is to help clients achieve financially sustainable operations through the development and implementation of commercial strategy. We have strong expertise in all areas of sports business, however, we’re trully passionate about the matchday niche and helping clients develop this segment of their business. MdI was launched by Luke Solomonson in the summer of 2011. The firm’s roots lie in McKinsey & Company’s media & entertainment practice and the IE Business School’s specialized sports master program. Luke spent over four years working in McKinsey & Company’s Media and Entertainment practice. While at McKinsey he served clients on topics ranging from organization, international growth, and commercial strategy. MdI’s original concept and business plan was developed at the IE Business School where Luke earned a master’s degree in sports management. The plan was developed in collaboration with Niall Tracy and Iain McDonald who maintain an active advisory role. The launch of the firm was made possible by a partnership agreement with Field Management, a strategy and marketing consultancy based in Tokyo, Japan. MdI supports Field Management’s work in the Japanese sports industry by providing insight and case analysis into best practices in the US and European sport.
