Mary's Gourmet Inc. Information

The owner of Mary's Gourmet, Mary Bewick Clowater, has a long history of cooking. From early in her life, while learning to cook at her mother's side, Mary loved the aromas of the kitchen and all the wonderful recipes she learned to prepare. This love became the motivation to get her degree in Home Economics, Ph.Ec., and pursue training at the exclusive Cordon Bleu Cookery School. Mary and her friends would cater to parties held during the summer by her mother's friends. It was during one of these parties when she was asked to make a Florentine cookie as one of the desserts. Mary was never content with just preparing the traditional Florentine. This venture called for something extra! So Mary invented the Florentine candy that became known as Mary's Gourmet Florentynes. It was such a hit at these summer parties, clients began requesting bags of these Florentynes to give as gifts for special occasions. The rest... as they say is history!
