Transylvania College is a student-centred school, offering a complete educational path, from nursery to high school. It is the only international school in the region accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education which has also been awarded BSO (British School Overseas) status by the UK Department of Education, following a series of inspections. Transylvania College is an Accredited Member of COBIS (Council of British International Schools), and is under the High Patronage of Her Majesty Margareta of Romania, Crown Custodian. International School of Bucharest is a non-profit day school providing a British style of education for children aged two and a half years to 19 years. Children in the Early Years, Primary and Secondary School (ages 2.5 to 14) follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales, which is adapted to meet the needs of our international student body. Students in Years 10 and 11 follow the Cambridge IGCSE programme. Years 12 and 13 are the final two years of our programme where students are prepared for IB Diploma. ISB is authorised by the Romanian Ministry of Education. We have been registered by the University of Cambridge as a 'Cambridge International Centre' since 2001. Our school is also a regular member of the Council of International School (CIS). ISB became an associated member of COBIS in October 2013. Around 650 students from 40 different countries currently attend our school. ISB is committed to excellence in education and the personal growth of every student. AISB was founded in 1962 and is currently Bucharest's largest international school. Our language of instruction is English and our teaching is based upon an American-style curriculum. We offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Program throughout the entire school, from Early Childhood through 12th grade. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, The Council of International Schools, and the International Baccalaureate Organization accredit our school. Hosted in the finest purpose-built facility in town, a new 10 hectare campus constructed in 2001, AISB is located near the Henri Coanda International Airport.
