Marin Villages was formed in response to a 2007 Marin Grand Jury Report on Aging which found Marin County to be one of the fastest aging counties in the State. With the third highest cost of living in California, many of our older adults are finding it especially difficult to spend their senior years in their own homes. Marin Villages seeks to address the service gap that many of our seniors face. We are a non-profit, volunteer-supported, membership organization that strives to help seniors age in place safely, confidently and independently. We do that by providing volunteers who assist our members in tasks such as, local rides, household help, pet care, tech support, office organization, companionship, and more. Our volunteers also offer neighborhood activities, classes and gatherings for our members and community. Our organization is an alliance of local villages with one central office. Our central office focuses on the administrative, funding and development aspects of the organization. Members call the central office with requests and we find volunteers to assist them. We vet volunteers/ service providers and approve them for our members. We collaborate with other county organizations and share the mission and vision of our Village to potential donors and funding sources. Our Local Villages focus on presenting a variety of programs tailored to their members' interests, allowing them to stay engaged, meet neighbors and participate in life-enriching events. In addition, each Local Village looks at the needs of their members and builds and supports a volunteer infrastructure to help meet these needs. Marin Villages serves the following communities:Belvedere Corte Madera FairfaxGreenbrae Homestead Valley KentfieldLarkspur Mill Valley NovatoRoss San Anselmo San RafaelTiburonIn addition, Rainbow Village started in February to meet the needs of older adults in the LGBT community. Aging brings on changes and needs for services that can quickly accelerate. While life care facilities are the preferred choice for some and the best choice for others, most of us wish to remain in the homes we cherish and the communities we love! Marin Villages works to make this desire a real possibility. Marin Villages is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, qualified to receive tax deductible contributions.
