Marain is an operator's practice. Twenty-eight years of starting companies and solving hard problems inside the world's largest organisations, applied to your business, and then built. Most people who can tell you what to do can't build it. Most people who can build it don't know what to do. Marain does both: work out what actually drives a business, make it legible to the people who have to act on it, then build the system that runs on it. The work runs on four lines: coaching for early-stage founders; brand, go-to-market and process work for mid-size businesses, measured in shorter cycle times; bounded positioning and go-to-market problems for large organisations; and a foundry that generates, builds and spins out new businesses. AI is how the work gets built, public where it makes sense and private where it matters. It isn't the category the work is sold in. Marain is led by Narendra Nag: four companies founded and two sold, the national communications architecture for the Gates Foundation in India, board-level strategy for Unilever, Shell and GE, and most recently Chief Strategy Officer at APMC. The name comes from Iain M. Banks's Culture novels, where Marain is the language built to be understood by every kind of mind. Writing, case studies and the tools that run the practice: marain.space
