Maple Star Services Information

Maple Star was licensed in May 2004 and provides resource intensive service of Treatment Foster Care. The background and needs of the children/youth served include: -males and females with a history of physical or sexual abuse and neglect, and related social deficits; -males and females who have been abandoned by their parents or caregivers -medically fragile children and those with disabilities -youth requiring life skill training and transitional living in preparation for independent living Consistent with the mission of serving challenging youth who might otherwise be in a group home or residential facility, the program features small caseloads, and extensive support - child and youth workers, tutors, and generous wrap-around services plus clinical consultation with a child psychologist. The family providers are highly trained and operate as key members of the treatment team. Each one of these components represent the best practice in the treatment of children with serious emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. The research evidence demonstrates that these components are effective in returning the children to a normal developmental pathway, maximizing the opportunities for family reunification.
