Mental Health Ireland promotes mental health and wellbeing to all individuals and communities in Ireland. Through our network of Mental Health Associations, we support people who experience mental health difficulties on their journey of recovery. MHI’s vision is for an Ireland where mental health is valued as being an essential part of personal wellbeing and the health of the nation. Our Association was established in 1981, to identify, develop and maintain professional standards of excellence in counselling and psychotherapy. Our work promotes best practice and the development of the profession as well as safeguard the public. As a registered Charity (CHY 6615) representing more than 7,000 members, we are the largest counselling and psychotherapy association in Ireland. What we do: The IACP represents the interests of both client and Counsellor / Psychotherapist in Ireland. We are a link between those who are looking for Counselling / Psychotherapy and those who provide Counselling / Psychotherapy. In addition, we provide information and set and maintain practice and training standards. We represent Counselling / Psychotherapy at both national and international level. Much of our work involves developing high standards in the profession of Counselling / Psychotherapy. The IACP has established a comprehensive Code of Ethics and Practice. IACP also partners other National and International Counselling and Psychotherapy Associations to advance the development of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

About Cork Counselling Services Founded in the early 1980s, Cork Counselling Services (CCS) was one of the first centres in Ireland to offer professional counselling to the community regardless of financial means, religious beliefs, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or educational background. From the start, our mission has been to make high-quality, compassionate counselling accessible to everyone. Today, CCS is a social enterprise that combines clinical excellence with education. Alongside our counselling services, we train the next generation of counsellors through our BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy degree. This programme is accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP)—Ireland’s leading professional body—and validated by Coventry University, strengthening our international connections. Our team is made up of diverse, highly qualified professionals, including counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists. All staff are either accredited by the IACP or IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy), registered with the PSI (Psychological Society of Ireland), or working towards accreditation. Every counsellor and psychotherapist at CCS works within recognized codes of ethics and the highest professional standards.
