The Map Foundation (map.ca) - Building the World’s Community Map The Map Foundation is a Canadian social enterprise initiative focused on creating a global, community-driven mapping system that connects people, places, skills, knowledge, and opportunity. Our mission is grounded in three pillars that guide everything we build: 1. Community: We believe a map should reflect real life, not just roads. Map.ca allows anyone to post meaningful local information: farm stands, events, small businesses, walking trails, resources, neighbourhood services, classes, opportunities, and community moments. Each pin represents a human story, and together they form a living map shaped by the people it serves. 2. Education: We are building an accessible learning layer directly into the map. With AI-supported pathways, anyone can learn, teach, or share knowledge with low barriers. AgriHome.ca powers this learning system, offering community-driven training, skills, and pathways for all users. Education becomes simple, inclusive, and community-powered. 3. Entrepreneurship: Map.ca lowers the barrier for individuals, creators, farmers, tradespeople, small businesses, and newcomers to be discovered. Our $21 annual profiles make it simple to build visibility and participate in local economic ecosystems. The map becomes a launchpad for new ideas, small businesses, and meaningful work. A Global Network in the Making: The Map Foundation is supported by a growing community of builders, developers, educators, designers, and everyday contributors across time zones. We call ourselves a “team of misfits” — people who believe mapping can become a positive global force. Our weekly Map Call welcomes anyone who wants to explore, contribute, or help shape the movement. Our Promise: We prioritize privacy, transparency, and human-centred design. No tracking.
