MalLabel Music is a platform for innovative and talented artists to showcase their world-class productions for a loyal fan base of underground bass music lovers in the Bay Area and beyond. Originating in 2008, MalLabel quickly built a reputation for bringing big sound and top talent to their events, which were among the first San Francisco underground bass parties. Hosting many now-famous artists in small and obscure venues, shows like the Bordello and MalFunktion parties are still remembered as having pioneered the underground bass scene in the Bay Area. After releasing music from now internationally-acclaimed artists Minnesota and G Jones, MalLabel established itself as a launching pad for fresh, emerging talent such as Widdler, Headphone Activist, and Space Jesus. MalLabel collaborated with the celebrated Camp Questionmark on their early events and helped establish connections that led to the founding of Emissions West Coast Bass Culture. Camp Questionmark now produces the biggest and most well-known bass music stage at Burning Man, and MalLabel’s role in their success cannot be understated. MalLabel’s groundbreaking Fractalize Festival in 2012 was one of the first events to bring together the worlds of Bay Area hip hop and underground west coast bass. The impact of this confluence of cultures is still reflected in the landscape of bass music today. MalLabel now proudly represents over 300 artists, with dozens of Beatport Top 10 and Top 20 Dubstep, Glitch Hop, and Hip Hop releases. MalLabel has garnered critical acclaim in Complex, Urb and Vibe magazines and is consistently featured in electronic music press outlets such as YourEDM, The Untz, and EDM Sauce.
