MAKE-A-WAY INC Information

Make-A-Way's mission is to help its members engage in constructive social and recreational activities and programs to keep them on a path toward recovery. Additionally, training and learning sessions are held to accent the recovery process. Training and learning opportunities include everything from domestic skills to job-oriented training. Activities and programs at Make-A-Way are for the benefit of its members who have mental retardation, physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, and/or loneliness. The Center is headed by an Executive Director and is governed by a Board of Directors. A big part of Make-A-Way Center’s success is consumer involvement at all levels of the organization. The Center’s staff is comprised mainly of volunteers. Some of the volunteers are present or former consumers of the mental health related services. These individuals donate their talent, time, and energy to help others. In the process, they are helping themselves by enhancing their self-esteem.
