St. Raphael’s is a charitable organization created to build and operate a palliative care home and day center that will offer free, high-quality care in one of the most populated areas of Montreal. Our mission is to offer exceptional palliative care and services in a warm and compassionate environment, free of charge, to people suffering from an incurable illness, so that they may live an end of life imbued with compassion, respect and humanity. To offer a beneficial break and support for loved ones and caregivers. When it opens in 2018, the palliative care home will have a capacity of 12 beds and the day centre will welcome approximately 20 patients per day for a total of 5,000 visits per year. The idea for the project dates back to 2008, when the Church of St. Raphael the Archangel was closed and a committee wanted to create a facility in memory of Father Gerry, in response to the population’s growing needs for palliative care. A major fundraising campaign is currently underway and construction is planned to begin in the fall of 2017. To follow the project, please visit www.maisonstraphael.org
