MadStage has always been a free service. Theaters and Dance companies pay nothing to post their information on the site. Audience members pay nothing to find that information and use it to choose where to spend their performing arts dollars. And actors, directors, dancers, producers, employers, technicians, playwrights, teachers, and all the others who visit MadStage and make it the community that it has become pay nothing to be part of it. That, of course, doesn't mean that it costs nothing for MadStage to exist. For it's first seven years MadStage was created and funded by its founder...um, that is, me! I want to keep doing it as long as I can, and I'd like to keep it free for all who find value in it. The last thing the arts community needs in these times is another item to add to the annual budget! Starting in its eighth year, I decided to offer to anyone who is moved to do so the opportunity to support MadStage by helping to cover some of the expenses that go into its maintenance and growth, and I'm pleased to report that expenses have been fully covered by donations each year since. Site hosting costs, software and hardware costs are all anticipated for this year, and assistance with any of these would be gratefully accepted. In return for this, I offer several things. First, as a MadStage sponsor, you will be recognized on the site (unless you request otherwise). Individual sponsors will be listed and thanked, and organizations and businesses can receive ad space and links to their sites from the MadStage sponsors page. Second, you will have my ongoing commitment to keep trying to make MadStage better (and if you have ideas as to how to make it better, please let me know!). I have some very interesting ideas myself for the upcoming year, and I'd love to be able to make them happen. And third, you will have that wonderful feeling you'll get, knowing that you've helped to make MadStage happen. Every time you go to see a show, you'll know that some of the people on stage are there because they saw a MadStage audition notice. Some of the people around you in the audience are there because they read about the show on MadStage. And after all, that's what it's really all about.
