Made by mussels dream is to redesign our relationship with resources by providing a solution for a zero waste economy in line with a circular resource management. Our mission is to repurpose bio-waste from seashells. Why sea shells ? 75% of production from shellfish farming ended as a waste and never reach the market to finally ends up in landfill coasting a lot for the community but especially for the farmers which have to pay to get rid of the waste. And we believe this is a shame, sea shells are an amazing raw material as it is calcium carbonate and can be used in many sectors and can replace ceramic in the 3D printing industry or concrete in the building sector. So there is huge gap in the market. By establishing a regional up-cycling facility producing a multi-propose shell powder aggregate with applications in the additive manufacturing (3D printing) industry, Made By Mussel offers a solution. This is a win to win and circular economy model, farmers get value on their lost production and we offer a raw material to replace imported, expansive and non-sustainable material.
