The Grand Teton Music Festival’s mission is to provide exhilarating musical experiences. The festival was founded in 1962 by the Jackson Hole Fine Arts Festival to foster classical music experiences for performers and audiences and to improve and enrich the cultural awareness and opportunities for people in Wyoming and the adjacent area. More than 60 years since its humble beginnings performing in a tent at the base of the Tetons, the Festival is now sought after for both listeners and performers alike as a destination to experience the finest in classical music throughout the summer. The Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra consists of top talent from across the country, including 250 musicians from 90 orchestras and 65 institutions of higher learning, many performing together each summer for over 25 years. The Festival also welcomes some of the most sought-after soloists and visiting artists in classical music today. Under the baton of world-renowned Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles, these musicians come together to gather inspiration from the mountain setting and to provide spectacular music for Festival audiences. Founded in 1961, the Richardson Symphony has grown with the DFW metroplex and is recognized as one of the premier orchestras of the region. It is the resident symphony of the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and offers a variety of classical and pops concerts each season programmed to appeal to the varied audiences of the area. Throughout its history, the orchestra has been known for its innovative programming and as a showplace for brilliant up-and-coming talent. Many notable artists have made their DFW symphony debut with the RSO, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Nadia Solaerno-Sonnenberg and pianist Behzod Abduraimov. In addition to the critically-acclaimed season performances, the Richardson Symphony is also widely regarded as a leader in education and community outreach programs. The Ann & Charles Eisemann International Young Artists Competition draws talented young performers from around the world each year. The orchestra is also actively involved in providing an introduction to classical music for the third grade students of the Richardson Independent School District and in local private schools. Consistent with our belief in the power of music and our mission, we believe that music is something that should be available and accessible to everyone. On October 22, 2022, the SSO will celebrate the start of our 78th season of beautiful music in downtown Springfield MA! We are the largest professional orchestra in Massachusetts outside of Boston. During the upcoming season, we will perform 8 professional concerts at Springfield Symphony Hall (six Classical concerts, two Pops concerts), Youth Orchestra concerts, and a multitude of musical and educational initiatives throughout the greater Pioneer Valley. We are proud to call Springfield, MA, our home, and are a vested, engaged partner in the expansion and revitalization of our city, as a regional cultural & economic hub. The established mission of the SSO is to maintain and develop a professional symphony orchestra that produces musical performances of high artistic quality; to entertain and educate our audiences; to expand and develop our audiences; and to sponsor related programs and concerts that enhance the musical life of the region we serve.
