Lytup Power Systems Inc. is a Canadian cleantech company deploying Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid solar-battery, and Energy Management Solutions across West Africa and beyond. Our LiFePO4-based Lytvolt product line and proprietary EMS platform deliver reliable, scalable power to commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. We are driven by a mission to make power accessible anywhere, always. Over 640 million Africans have no access to electricity, corresponding to an electricity access rate for African countries at just over 40 percent - the lowest in the world. Those who have access to electricity often suffer from an insufficient capacity. Lytup carried out a survey with over 500 Nigerians of different socio-economic classes, and found that over 80% of respondents were dissatisfied with the current power situation in their country. Comparably, the daily electricity per capita in the United States is enough to power a 100W light bulb for 326 hours while in Nigeria and Liberia, it is only enough to power a single 100W bulb for 3 hours and 1 hour respectively. San Antonio, a city of 1.5 million people uses roughly the same amount of electricity annually as Nigeria, a country of over 210 million people. Access to power is vital not only for the attainment of health and education, but for reducing the cost of running businesses and creating job opportunities. Insufficient energy access is evident in the thousands of deaths annually due to the lack of power to hospitals and emergency services. The disproportionately unbalanced distribution of energy drives the inequality of people on our planet and it must change. We at Lytup are ready to play a major role in making it happen.
