The Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee (LMTAC) is the largest local government treaty advisory group in the Province. LMTAC members are made up of twenty-six individual municipal and regional district jurisdictions covering the geographic area from Whistler to Langley and Maple Ridge. LMTAC is a full member of the Provincial treaty negotiating team and provides advice and guidance from a local perspective. Since the municipal elections in November 1999, there has been a 40% change in the LMTAC membership. Highlights from last year: In November 1999, after one year of extensive consultation with Local Governments and the public, LMTAC members adopted 35 interest statements called the LMTAC First Principles. The First Principles provide a framework for Local Government interests in treaty negotiations. Copies are available from the LMTAC office.
