About: Lowen's Skincare is a boutique cosmetic/skincare company proudly based in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Our focus is product formulation centered on the needs and desires of the environmentally conscious consumer. Mission: The creation/formulation of environmentally conscious cosmetics for consumers that demand an exceptional and truly unique product. Our Guiding Principles: # 1 – Safe for us = Safe for you All of our products have been formulated using ingredients that we have evaluated as being safe for use on our family. We have investigated extensively, evaluated the research and separated the evidence from the commonly accepted “truth.” We have tested all of our products on ourselves prior to bringing them to market and rest assured that we would not offer anything that is even remotely harmful. # 2 – Do no Harm As we mention in the paragraph above, we do test on humans (ourselves to be specific). We DO NOT test on animals. Furthermore, we do not source any of our ingredients from any company that performs animal testing. This one is a no brainer. # 3 – Keeping it Simple We believe that having a shopping list of ingredients in any product is not a good thing. We believe that selling products with outer packaging, package inserts, inner labeling, etc. is wasteful and is also not a good thing. We believe that preservatives, where they can be avoided, should be. When it is necessary to use them they must be safe (see Principle #1) and kept to a minimum. # 4 – Sensible Sourcing: The guiding principle of Sensible Sourcing is that a product that seemingly covers all bases - 100% organic, 100% fair trade, with 100% biodegradable packaging can potentially be as bad as it is, seemingly, good...especially if you have to ship a particular ingredient across the world to get to you - creating a significant carbon footprint. In short, we keep in mind the triple bottom line when we select or change our ingredients.
