Lowell School Information

Established in 1965,Lowell School is an independent school serving students from 2.5 years of age through 8th grade, located on eight acres adjacent to Rock Creek Park in Northwest Washington, DC. Lowell is where progressive education prepares students for high school and challenges them to hold themselves and others to the highest ambitions and ideals throughout life. We are here for the challenge, here for the progress, here for the expertise, and here for the ambitions. Learning is always active here, and inquiry is always expected. Students' growth is real, and their progress is always measured. Staff operate in the community with students and families, and we all have a common vision of equity and justice. The people who are drawn to Lowell—students, teachers, parents, grandparents, guardians, school leaders, staff, and alumni share a relentless spirit of responsibility: do good for each other, do good for the world.
