Low Carbon Contracts Company Information

As a government-owned entity, the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) and the Electricity Settlements Company (ESC), sit at the heart of the delivery of the UK’s goals for secure, affordable and sustainable electricity. Under the government’s Contracts for Difference scheme, we manage the contracts with low-carbon electricity generators, which incentivises investment in renewable energy. ESC is responsible for managing all financial transactions and associated assurances under the Capacity Market scheme. We also enable clean energy investment into low carbon technologies, starting with proven technologies such as wind and solar energy and moving into emerging fields like Hydrogen and Carbon Capture, Usage, and Storage.
