Loft Development Corporation is a commercial real estate firm in Chicago and has been in business since 1978. Loft employs approximately 25 people and currently owns and manages six commercial office buildings, plus two self storage/wine storage businesses under the brand Strongbox. The firm has four commercial properties in Chicago’s West Loop, one in the South Loop and one in River North. The two Strongbox Self Storage and Wine Storage facilities are located on the city’s north side in Lincoln Park and Lakeview. Loft has a rich history as an innovator and leader in Chicago real estate development. The company was an early pioneer in the practice of renovating old urban industrial warehouses and converting them into loft-style office spaces and self storage facilities. In the mid-80s, the company added state-of-the art wine storage solutions to its Strongbox facilities, which led the trend that popularized wine storage facilities across the country.
