ExcellencePB, OpportunityU, International Mindedness and Harmony. These words are part of the vernacular at Glenunga International High School. They are embedded in our beliefs, our way of being, they make up who we are. In a world where much is uncertain, we aim to build certainty. Where our students develop confidence and are encouraged to strive for excellence, to achieve their personal best.
Clapham provides a 50 minute sequential class music and drama program weekly to all children. It aims to develop an individual musical ear, knowledge and skills, including those of music literacy, through active participation in a range of musical activities in the outstanding Music Room. The Drama program focuses on building confidence and Clapham values through a variety of activities. The school has an excellent range of tuned and non-tuned percussion instruments. Emanating from the class program are extra-curricular activities. For example, Instrumental Music Program. Private tuition is available at school for the piano, guitar and drums. Clapham also has students who learn woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, through the Clapham Primary School Hub program supported by DECD. The students learning a musical instrument at the school are members of the Junior or Senior Band and rehearse every second Tuesday. A school rock band is formed on a yearly basis, depending on the availability of musicians. A highlight of the school year is a full school production R-7. All students take a role of singing, dancing and acting. This performance is held away from the school and is an evening of musical extravaganza. Clapham School community has always valued the musical development of its students very highly and an excellent standard is maintained and reached with great enjoyment.
