LIVERPOOL SEAFARERS CENTRE Information

Liverpool Seafarers Centre roots date back to the 19th Century. An ecumenical award winning charity we help more than 50,000 seafarers each year visiting Merseyside ports. We are a partnership between Apostleship of the Sea (Liverpool) and The Mersey Mission to Seafarers. The charity’s work involves visiting vessels to integrate with the crew, offering a listening ear to help combat isolation and loneliness and providing places ashore for seafarers to relax away from their working environment. We operate two centres in Crosby and Eastham on the Wirral which include a chapel for Church services. We also run a van shuttle service taking seafarers into Liverpool to visit the football clubs and go shopping. In November 2022 we won the Diversity Award at the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards. In September 2019, LSC was awarded the world’s best seafarer centre at the International Seafarer Welfare Awards (ISWAN) as nominated and voted for by mariners themselves. LSC is funded by church donations, we well as general donations and a new port levy on shipping lines.
