LingoLift (formerly Listenwise) Information

LingoLift is a literacy platform for grades 2–12 built around real stories. Audio and video from trusted sources including NPR, Bedtime History, and others, with real voices and interesting topics. Students who won't finish a textbook passage or worksheet will finish (and love!) a four-minute audio story. Every lesson covers whole literacy across four skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Students listen, read along with a synchronized transcript, work through vocabulary and comprehension activities, write with structured prompts, and practice speaking with pronunciation feedback. Lessons come with scaffolds so every student follows the same story, from the newcomer just arrived to intermediate MLL to special education student who can access complex grade-level ideas but needs extra reading support to the on-level student who needs more enrichment. LingoLift flexibly fits into a variety of teaching models: whole-class instruction, small groups, independent stations, or individual practice. Teachers use it as a standalone literacy tool, a supplement to a core curriculum or MLL/ELL program, or alongside a science of reading program. Teachers choose it over or alongside traditional literacy and ELL platforms because the content is genuinely engaging, lessons require no prep, and the use of listening to lift overall literacy, which most platforms treat as an afterthought. Over 3,000 lessons across language arts, ESL, social studies, science, and social-emotional learning, with new ones added weekly. Includes 100+ newcomer ELL lessons, instructions in 15+ home languages, and alignment to language frameworks including WIDA and ELPAC.
