Lineto Type Foundry Information

Lineto is a Swiss Type Foundry dedicated to the research, design and production of fresh and original typefaces. Lineto - the name is borrowed from the PostScript™ page description language - was founded in 1993 by Cornel Windlin and Stephan Müller as a label for their individual type design activities. Five years later, they jointly set up Lineto.com to distribute their own typefaces on the web, and invited a number of fellow designers with shared sensibilities to publish their fonts alongside. Since then, Lineto has developed into a reputable, slowly growing library of original typefaces. First and foremost, we see type design as an artistic domain, albeit one that is exposed to the many challenges of ever-changing, rapid technological developments. As much as type needs to tickle the mind and please the eye, today it needs to faultlessly function as software, day in and day out.
