At Lineage our goal is to orchestrate and track the lineage of big data: where it came from, how it came to be, what it will become and who is involved. We enable the Hadoop community to: • Connect to data • Collaborate as a team • Coordinate what happens when • Control how it gets done 90% of the world’s data has been created in the last two years. Data is expanding into big data at an exponential pace, and Hadoop is emerging as the platform of choice to process big data. Forester Research calls Hadoop “the reinvention of the EDW for the new age of cloud-centric business models that require rapid execution of advanced, embedded analytics against big data.” But Hadoop is just the starting point. Big data must be discovered, extracted, loaded, transformed, managed, tracked and shared to bring value to the enterprise. That is where Lineage comes in. Big data is forcing the enterprise to transition from ETL to ELT; from vertical scaling to horizontal scaling; from working with Hadoop to working on Hadoop; from workflow management to enterprise collaboration; from monolithic EDW to federated data ecosystem. Lineage aims to help enterprises make this transition in order to efficiently analyze and action big data. Lineage is backed by Frost Venture Partners, an incubator and investment fund focused on big data innovation. We are in the early stages of developing our products, and we are seeking guidance and feedback from the community.
