Lifeguard believes every client is different. With this in mind, Lifeguard places a high degree of importance on taking great care to focus on compatibility when matching our clients with their support team. Furthermore, Lifeguard places a high priority on 'consistency of care', ie, providing a regular team of staff with your loved-one as opposed to having to accept a different person for each visit, which can be a problem with other home care agencies. All employees of Lifeguard Homecare are bonded, insured and have passed a police back ground check. Lifeguard also places a great deal of importance on 'wisdom and common sense'. Although we do employ nursing students, most of our current staff consists of mature mothers and grandmothers who have raised families and have seemingly developed a wonderful ability to "see around corners", anticipating problems before they arise. Our attendants, nurses and personal support workers come to us with not only great credentials and references, but also possess some with very special life experiences to draw upon. For example, we have a member of our staff who is a fully trained pastoral counselor. Yet another staff member comes to us with an extensive background in helping children with challenges. We are very proud of the fact that one of our staff has affectionately been renamed "Nighty-Night" by one of our clients, reflective of the nurturing and personalized care she is providing. We work closely with the Alzheimer's Society of Brant, with most of our staff having completed supplemental training on strategies in dealing with Alzheimer's Disease and other types of dementia.
