Libri-Bookline Plc. is one of the biggest cultural enterprises in Central and Eastern Europe, which was created with the merger of Hungary’s two strongest book brands, Libri and Bookline. Its legal predecessor, Libri Book Trading Ltd. and its businesses and Shopline Plc. merged in 2013 to form Libri-Shopline Plc. Libri is Hungary’s premium bookstore chain and book trader that communicates a message of expertise and reliability. The company’s mission is popularising reading and promoting culture. Bookline has a youthful, trendsetting and book loving image and it serves readers with one of the country’s biggest online bookshops. These two brands perfectly complement one another, covering different age groups and consumer needs; they not only sell books but also organise cultural and CSR programmes to support Hungary’s book and literary life. The group is the majority owner of Libri Publishing Group (Libri Publishing, Park Book Publishing, Helikon Publishing, Jelenkor Publishing, Kolibri Publishing, Filmstrip Production) and in 2015 acquired a share in publishing companies Jaffa and Scolar. One of the major group members, Libri Book Trading Ltd. serves 2.1 million customers a year in their 44 shops located all over Hungary and in their online shop. Libri Book Trading was named Book Trader of the Year by the Hungarian Publishers’ and Booksellers’ Association 8 times.
