liberouter Information

Liberouter project is focused on hardware acceleration of network security and monitoring tools using FPGA cards. The project started in 2003 as a CESNET research activity concerning hardware acceleration of IPv6 routing (Liberouter). Later on, the research and development activities have moved to designing FPGA cards for 10, 40 and 100 Gbps networks and hardware acceleration of network security and monitoring tools. All these research and development activities are managed by CESNET, Department of Monitoring Tools and Configuration in cooperation with Brno University of Technology, Masaryk University nad Czech Technical University in Prague. During long Liberouter history, the research team has participated in many EU projects, acquired substantial experience in the network field and has created many hardware accelerated tools based on FPGA cards. A lot of these developed tools and prototypes have been deployed in CESNET network and have also been a basis for several commercial products, now offered by our partner company INVEA-TECH.
