LGS Systems, Inc. provides many consulting services. However, our primary focus is on customization of enterprise business systems. Currently, we are primarily focusing on using web based technologies to provide a layer between corporate mainframe systems and their users, commonly for the purpose of allowing companies clients and employees access to their databases over the internet. We have found that many corporations are currently faced with the seemingly insurmountable task of moving their systems off of a mainframe and on to new multitiered client server arrangement. One primary issue in this process is the development of the client side software used to access and manipulate the data on the mainframe. Without web technologies, corporations are faced with the daunting task of creating client software for the various systems running within their corporation, Windows in accounting, Mac in marketing, NeXTStep for the traders, and a mainframe behind it all. Now, should the corporation wish to provide access to their clients over the internet, they suddenly have assumed the responsibility of being a software distributor. The web technologies which LGS Systems employ help to overcome all of these problems. Web based technologies allow us to provide a layer in between your mainframe and users which is architecture independent, and also creates architecture independency on the client side. Further, this layer has the ability to access multiple data sources so that you can make a gradual and invisible transition from a mainframe to a pc server running an SQL database. Moreover, as you make changes to this layer on the server side, all of your clients, whether they are internal to the company or external over the internet, will receive these changes the next time they access the server. We feel that these technologies are quite mature and are most definitely a solution for today and the future.
